Some of the best dining discoveries are the ones hiding in plain sight. The Brunch Apothecary, located at 2595 Fence Road in Dacula, is exactly that kind of find. Set inside a beautifully converted historic home with a wraparound porch and rocking chairs, it is the kind of place you miss if you drive past too quickly. And that would be a shame, because inside is some of the most creative brunch food in Gwinnett County.
Chef and co-owner Jen Swan competed on Food Network's Chopped, and it shows. Her menu takes Southern comfort classics and gives them a playful, thoughtful twist. Chicken and Churros Waffle. Peach Cobbler Waffle. A Southern Monte Cristo that redefines what a grilled sandwich can be. The Brunch Apothecary consistently ranks as the #1 restaurant in Dacula on TripAdvisor, and after one visit, you will understand why.
The Chicken and Churros Waffle: a cinnamon-sugar churros waffle with lightly fried chicken tenders, guava butter, and sorghum syrup. It is as good as it sounds.
A Home With a Story
The restaurant occupies a lovingly restored older home on Fence Road, and the farmhouse atmosphere is part of the experience. The front porch with rocking chairs invites you to sit and stay a while. Inside, the vintage decor and cozy dining rooms feel like Easter brunch at your grandmother's house. Games are available for guests waiting for a table, which is a nice touch. The same ownership group runs Rico's World Kitchen on Buford's Historic Main Street, and that commitment to quality and personality carries through here.
Why We Love It
"The Brunch Apothecary is the kind of creative, thoughtful brunch spot that Dacula has needed. The Chicken and Churros Waffle is brilliant, and the Peach Cobbler Waffle is pure comfort on a plate. The fact that it is housed in a converted historic home makes it feel even more special. It is just minutes from Apalachee Farms, and it has quickly become one of my favorite recommendations for clients looking for something unique and delicious close to home."

The Chef Behind It
Head Chef Jen Swan is a Buford native who competed on Food Network's Chopped, and her culinary training is rooted in some of the area's best kitchens. Before opening The Brunch Apothecary, she worked at Antebellum Restaurant in Flowery Branch and Cotton Calf Kitchen in Braselton, two of the most acclaimed fine dining destinations in the region. The restaurant is operated by the same ownership group behind Rico's World Kitchen on Buford's Historic Main Street.
That pedigree shows in every dish. The menu balances creative flair with genuine Southern warmth, and the attention to detail is evident in everything from the house-made sauces to the thoughtful presentation. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are also available, and the staff is trained to accommodate allergens.
